Welcome to the Ego Cycle Wiki!

This wiki was created to collect all those little tidbits of wisdom that only become apparent after you've owned and ridden an Ego electric scooter for a while. In it you will find instructions for desirable modifications, tips for difficult repairs, sources for hard to find parts, and other information that isn't available anywhere else. You will not find anything that is already in the owner's manual or available on the Ego Vehicles site.

For the benefit of visitors, the Ego Cycle is an electric scooter manufactured by Ego Vehicles LLC, currently located in Atascadero, California. It comes in three models:

The Ego Cycle 2 Classic, a basic scooter;

the Ego Cycle 2 LX, a model fitted with the accessories needed for registration in most states;

and the Ego Cycle 2 SE, a deluxe model of the LX with 5 spoke alloy rims and a silver, powder-coated chassis.

A variation of the Ego is produced for sale in Europe called the Helio Cycle. All models have the same basic powertrain. In good repair, an Ego scooter will reliably deliver a range of 20 miles and a top speed of 24 mph. More if you ride conservatively, less if you hot rod around or climb a lot of hills. In short, they're great scooters and you can learn more about them at the Ego Vehicles website.

For those seeking a discussion forum with other Ego Cycle owners, that function is currently provided at two other locations: The Ego Vehicles LLC Facebook page and the Ego Electric Scooters Yahoo Group.

Got something to contribute?

This wiki was put together so there would be one place on the net to find all the tips and tricks that aren't in the owner's manual. If you've owned an Ego for a while, I'll bet you've collected at least a few things the rest of us would find helpful. Please contribute to this wiki and share your Ego scooter knowledge and experience with the rest of us. To join, click on the "Join this Wiki" link at the upper left and create an account for yourself. When you join, the organizer will be notified and send you an invitation.
